Steve:
Actually that is a 512M, Chassis #1020 at Lemans in 1971. The two mechanics are Nereo Iori who was Chinetti’s chief mechanic and the other standing over the airbox is Paulo Vaccari who was on loan from the factory to Chinetti. He went on to run the customer service department at the factory. 1020 went on to finish 3rd in the race with Sam Posey and Tony “A to Z” Adamowicz, the highest placing Ferrari at that years 24 hours. I was working for Chinetti NART back then and worked that race. We worked for fortyeight hours straight to get the cars ready and then do the race, pack up and finally collapse. It was fun then and great memories now.
