1971 Jaguar XKE Coupe

Evidentially this is a rare car, they only made a handful of 6 cylinder coupes in this year. It is a great looking car as far as I am concerned and would be even better looking if I could sell it and get it out of my shop!

It was a great running and driving car that we overhauled the engine on 5-6 years and few miles ago. After driving the car about 1000 miles the customer decided he did not want his feet to go through the floor Flintstones style so we started to work to replace the floors and rocker panels.

Now, it is sell time. Anyone want her.

Once the floors and rockers are done it should have the rear sub-frame mounts replaced and calipers overhauled. Overall, a great car that offers lots of potential!

Ferrari 166 Berlinetta Headlights

After much researching to figure out what style headlight the 166 Touring bodies Berlinetta had and then searching for the correct headlight assembly we have finally seen some progress. The headlight opening in the body was all beat up from past work to fit an American style headlight with a large finishing rim so we had to re-work the entire headlight opening.

The trim ring on the correct style Carello headlight assembly is so small and fine that you cannot have one imperfection on the body. The assembly needs to fit up to the aluminum perfectly. Also, there is not a very good way to hold the assembly into the body so it really needs to “snap” into place as well as using a fastener.

These lights really make the car look good though!

Once painted, the reflection of the paint work on the trim ring will make any minor gaps disappear so we will not be too hard on ourselves.

Heat shields for Ferrari 250 GTE

We shipped that Sivler Ferrari 250 GTE a month or so ago but the car never had heat shields. The other day a Lusso came in for some work so I took the heat shields off to copy them and send to the GTE customer. I did not get a shot of them in wrinkle finish black paint but they looked perfect. I did not install the asbestos insulation between the two layers of aluminum, thought I would spare myself the agony!

1979 Ferrari 308 GTB

Here is a new 308 that we have for sale. It is a great running and driving car that is in need of a few minor cosmetic details such as painting the wheels and putting the urethane sealer around the windshield. I really like GTB’s and this car is no exception!

Lamborghini Miura test run

We ran the Miura engine earlier but were not happy with the cam timing specs that we got for the “S” engine. We also had an oil leak at the cam cover that needed to be repaired. Nate stripped it down, and we dialed in the cams and repaired a badly warped cam cover. Once it was bolted back together the engine was much more responsive and had better compression. I spent some time dialing in the carburetors and ignition timing and the thing runs like the raging bull.

Here is another youtube link of it running much better and not leaking!

Overhauling a 330 GTC transmission

After doing all kinds of work on a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC we are now going through the transmission. We overhauled the engine last fall and after our customer spent the spring and early summer driving the car he realized that the synchronizers were too worn for him to enjoy driving the car.

We are going to replace the bearings at the front of the transmission but all of the other bearings look great. All 5 synchronizer bands have been replaced even though the second and third gear synchros were the worst.

These transmissions are straightforward to work on provided you do not have to deal with the spacing on the pinion shaft.

Austin Healy 3000

Austin Healy 3000
Look at this Austin Healy 3000, just a simple, pure car without wire wheels. Doesn’t it look like an early Ferrari Barchetta? Just simple and pure probably the way Donald Healy wanted it to look.

Lamborghini Miura Engine Overhaul

Lamborghini Miura engine repair
We have finished the assembly of the Miura engine! Here is is running just after the first cranking of the engine.

It is popping and missing because we found that the distributor cap and rotor do not match up. It is as though the cap is a Ferrari style and the rotor is for the Lambo. Anyhow, by Monday we should have a remedy and get it running silky smooth.

1973 Porsche 911T

1973 Porsche 911 Coupe
Porsche 911 Coupe
Here is a new Purchase that I made, a 1973 911T in primer. The car is solid and complete but in need of paint and assembly.

As you can imagine, assembly will be an issue because I guarantee that things will be missing and every little gasket and seal has to be replaced. The car has lots of potential though as it is totally solid, matching numbers and very clean.

It was Sepia, a light brown color but I may change the color to something more interesting like orange.
