Interesting 275 GTB/4

275 GTB’s look so great with the 15″ Borrani 4010 and 4011 wheels, the factory should have fitted all of the cars with these instead of the little 14″ wheels. While the rear fender vents are interesting, they look great when they resemble the vents behind the front wheels, more square and in keeping with the 250 GTO. We have learned lots about this car recently and enjoy having it around the shop.

Old Forbes Interview with Marcel Massini

Ferrari 250 GT PF Cab

Ferrari 250 GT PF Cab

It may be an old interview, but it is still a good one. And wow those Ferrari prices have matured! This gets me thinking about a blog post I wanted to write about how the whole Ferrari community has matured based on the advertisements in publications such as Cavallino and Prancing Horse Magazines. 10+ years ago the full page ads were taken by big companies such as luxury watch makers and insurance  companies, but now you see full page ads taken out by restoration shops. It’s nice to see because restoration and repair shops work so hard to keep these cars running so to see that they can afford a full page ad seems like a great maturing of the entire Ferrari community… as well as the entire classic car community.

Coupla Neat Things For Sale Round Here

We have some odds and ends for sale here. This Ferguson tractor has been nicely restored and runs well. What do you think this thing is worth?

The BMW 2002 is solid and complete and runs very well. The owner just installed the original Solex carburetor and the car runs very well. The only rust is a little seam at the rear shock tower area, minor at best. I have more photos!

Interesting early Porsche 356

Too bad about the rust, but this is a super complete and likely matching numbers 1956 Porsche 356 Coupe that I photographed in a barn the other day. The owner bought the car in the late 60′ when he was stationed in Europe for the US Military. He drove the car in Germany in the winter which he thinks was the start of the rust issues on the car but what great memories he must have.

I really like these cars and believe that they will be valuable enough to bring money that justifies getting this car back on the road. The details like the instruments and clock, the door frames without the 1/4 vents and original Becker radio. The owner wants to sell the car and get into a complete 356 so if you know someone who wants such a project, keep me in mind.

It isn’t quite the oldest Porsche in the USA, but if these get you going, check out the contest being run by Porsche in conjunction with their 60th anniversary in America. https://porsche.promo.eprize.com/60years/?loc=interstitialskip

Some More cool painted fish

A friend of mine has a mounted swordfish that he caught in Florida that looked terrible because the paint job that replicates the skin is lifeless. The fish that Homer is making are amazing because even over a 2 dimensional panel, the colors look deep and alive as well as reflective as though you are seeing them underwater.

Here are some more photos of his fascinating work

GTE Engine Finished

Here are a few new YouTube clips of testing a freshly overhauled GTE engine. I have some detailing to finish but overall the thing runs so well and doesn’t leak a drop (except for a water hose plug)

Car Show Classics also put together this engine bay porn from Mille Miglia. It’s a lot of detail.

Video Piece on the 212 From Mille Miglia

Car Show Classic did a piece with Marcel Massini on the 212 at Mille Miglia. This is a great description of the history of the car from the master himself.
