512BB Ferrari

A few weeks ago Bill told me about a few Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer coming up for sale and since the timing was right, I pulled the trigger and bought it. When it arrived, I was kind of disappointed with the paint but very impressed with the rest of the car, the interior is great, dash is perfect and it drives like new. It constantly reinforces how much I like BB512′s with carburetors.

One of the most interesting things about this car is the perfectly preserved tool case. These are extremely delicate items that often get kicked around or left in a damp location to get moldy and break down but this is one of the best I have seen, testament to the original and well kept condition of the car.

I am working on honing in my video skills and equipment to make more videos of the cars, here is one of my first attempts to make a short and simple video of this car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB5NxR3ajuc

1983 Porsche 911SC Coupe

I recently purchased this 1983 Porsche 911SC Coupe and am just thrilled about how nice this car is.  There are a few visual cues that prove that its a European Production car such as the narrow bumper over-riders to fit the long license plate and rectangular side markers on the front fenders.  This car has  low miles and flawless paint and spectacular original interior that is testament to the care this car has received over the years. Its currently in Orlando Florida and in a few days I’ll fly in and drive it to Amelia Island for the big show and Auctions on March 6-9. It’ll be so great to get out of the Northeast after this brutal winter.

If you are at the Amelia Island festivities this week, look out for this car and grab a card off the windshield wiper, I’d like you to take it for a spin and get your feedback.

Ferrari 308 GTB 1977

Rosso Rubino 308 GTB

1977 Ferrari 308 GTB Rosso Rubino

Since my daughter is named Ruby, I had to have this “Rosso Rubino” 1977 Ferrari 308 GTB. I was in Tacoma WA. last month for a car tour and to look at some cars that are for sale with my friend Branden. He located this super original, one owner 308 that just had a Major Service and tons of work to make it totally ready to go car. The car has all books, tools and lots of records signifying its single (careful) ownership status.

At first glance, the car doesn’t impress, but as you poke your head into the corners and hidden areas you can see how immaculate and totally rust free this thing is. The engine is so clean and leak free that it looks like it just rolled out of the factory, and the tray under the radiator, the undercarriage, above the muffler… all immaculate.

One of my favorite details is the interior, it is so clean and has that unique smell that is so specific to 308 GTB’s, I don’t think the GTS’ smell the same!  I have a very keen sense of smell so sitting in this car brings me back to my youth when I was first around 308′s way way back in the mid 80′s! We had a few very low miles 308′s in the shop back then and I distinctly remember the smell of the leather, the carpeting and whatever else made that vapor cocktail.

For the ultimate Ferrari 308 enthusiast, I have located and purchased this spectacular 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSiQV with only 5600 miles for re-sale. It is totally complete with hand books, tools, jack roll, trouble light and often missing boot for the removable top. It even has the original Goodyear NC/T Tires!  This car is truly amazing and needs nothing to be shown or driven, except maybe tires that aren’t 25 years old!

Ruby and I had a look at the 206 on Friday, I really like the car. The interior is so cool because unlike most 206′s, it has the original seat upholstery with a loose weave pattern that can easily tear from a rivet on your jeans.

1966 Ferrari 330 GT

Grigio Notte Ferrari

Ferrari Grigio Notte

Earlier this week I visited the passionate owner of this extremely nice 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 in its original color called Grigio Notte. Typical of Italian Style and complexity, Grigio Notte (dark silver) has a tiny drop of green mixed in to give it that exotic hue unlike “grey” colors that you see on other cars.

The owner picked me up at the airport and we drove the spirited car about 25 miles to a friends shop and then to his house to check out all the other parts and documentation he has acquired with the car over the last few years. After all this we went to an outstanding BBQ joint where Nachos were based on thick cut potato chips with beef brisket and the shrimp sandwich was out of this world.

I was blown away at how well the Ferrari drove with a very strong engine, smooth drive shaft and all electrical components working as they are intended. Equally amazing was the ownership history and service documentation that the owner pulled together as well as the often missing handbooks and pouch to make this a very complete and sorted car.

How Does the Jaguar XKE Look?

It looks very good to me, solid and straight. There is more “top rot” on the car than deterioration on the undercarriage.

1969 XKE Jaguar For Sale

About 5 years ago I took a photo of this car after it showed up unexpectedly from Louisiana. Out of sight, out of mind the adage goes, we put it on the back corner of one of the buildings and after asking the owner what he wants to do with this XKE, he informed me that he wants to sell it. Does anyone out there want this thing or is Gullwing Motorcars going to pick it up! Later this week I’ll get it up on the lift and check out the car but I think its solid and complete except for the soft top frame. Even though the owner had the brake system gone through awhile ago, there isn’t a firm pedal and the clutch doesn’t work but I pulled it around the shop in gear and the engine turns and we should be able to do a accurate compression test.
