Porsche Wiring Harness

A 1971 Porsche 911 came in with a melted main wiring harness. A number of shops advertised new-old stock  harnesses on their websites but when I inquired they admitted that these parts haven’t been available for years. I called some used parts shops such as CarQuip and a place in CA, cannot remember the name…. and they had nothing. It seems that these harnesses get damaged and need replacing frequently!Tom at CarQuip did send me a used harness for a ’71 but the wire colors and gauge of wire didn’t match which I thought was very odd.

Y-nZ’s has supplied us with spectacular harnesses for 356 Porsche’s and most recently an amazing harness for a 1952 Chrysler Imperial but they quoted a larger price than I thought it worth so here is Casey making one from scratch! We bought all the terminal ends and had the PVC housing so for a major cost savings, here you go, a harness with factory color wire and correct appearance harness!

Enclosed transport

We are frequently on the road with our 2 car enclosed transporter, typically moving cars from the northern New England area to the New York Metro area. I just got back from a trip to deliver a Ferrari 512 BB to a customer in New Jersey, a Ferrari 4 cylinder engine that was crated up and dropped at the Port in Bayonne to go to England and the BMW 2002 that we just sold on ebay to a man in Verona NJ. There were some other cars to bring back which rounds out the trip nicely.

Many of the large transport companies don’t like to come up to the Northern Reaches of the US because this area is at the end of the line so they have a hard time finding a back haul so these guys call us to get the cars to there warehouses. Many New England roads require permits for the over length trucks and are narrow and twisty but our truck is easy to maneuver and doesn’t need these permits. Our truck is fully insured and since we have a knowledge of how these cars are built, we have a good sense on how to strap down them without damage. Let me know if you need anything moved around the PA, NJ, NY, ME, NH, CT, VT area. We can also go to Canada.

A Bull in a China Shop

Or just the opposite, a refined solid brick of a bull in a messy workshop. I think the workshop could do more damage to the Bull than visa-verse.

Our friends at Horseless Carriage asked us to deliver this Lamborghini Gallardo to a remote Vermont location, we are always happy to help Frank and his crew since they are so helpful and generous with us.

Adirondack Photo Shoot

Hacker Craft

Hacker Craft

An advertising company called us last week asking if we had a car that would be appropriate for a photo shoot in the Adirondacks for a major fashion company. We sent them photos of cars that we felt would be appropriate and they chose one of my favorites, the black and gray 1959 Austin Healey 3000 that is in excellent original condition and sits on pressed steel wheels rather than the typical wire wheels.

I was hired to bring the car to the Lake Placid Lodge in the Adirondacks and spend the morning helping to maneuver the car into position for photographs. There was no way anyone could have prepared me for scene I was about to experience. Not only was watching the intricate details of the photo shoot mind boggling, the Lake Placid Lodge was one of the most intricately detailed pieces of property I have ever seen. There were thick wooden layers after rich leather layers followed by curly birch bark layers of intricacies and rustic luxury.

It has been such a hot and humid summer here in the northeast but on this particular morning it was 48 degrees and overcast only to heighten magical experience of the experience.      http://www.lakeplacidlodge.com/

[Video] Bugatti Type 52 Driving

Racing it is not, especially with Ruby who is such a cautious driver but she will get some more seat time later this summer. We are thinking of trading this original 1927 car for a couple of the reproduction “Pur Sang” cars so the kids can race around without worrying about destroying something  valuable.

The Bugatti type 52 performed beautifully and the hand operated brakes stopped the car with confidence, “my cars are made to go, not to stop”.

Florida Trip, Cavallino Classic

Hey all out there, I am coming back next Sunday the 24th from Southern Florida with one car space in our enclosed transporter. It would be great to fill the truck to help offset the cost of fuel.

I would have two spaces but I am going to buy a car to bring back.

Cut away display car

Here is an adorable little thing. I think that it is based on a Fiat 500? Does anyone know out there?
