Enclosed transport

We are frequently on the road with our 2 car enclosed transporter, typically moving cars from the northern New England area to the New York Metro area. I just got back from a trip to deliver a Ferrari 512 BB to a customer in New Jersey, a Ferrari 4 cylinder engine that was crated up and dropped at the Port in Bayonne to go to England and the BMW 2002 that we just sold on ebay to a man in Verona NJ. There were some other cars to bring back which rounds out the trip nicely.

Many of the large transport companies don’t like to come up to the Northern Reaches of the US because this area is at the end of the line so they have a hard time finding a back haul so these guys call us to get the cars to there warehouses. Many New England roads require permits for the over length trucks and are narrow and twisty but our truck is easy to maneuver and doesn’t need these permits. Our truck is fully insured and since we have a knowledge of how these cars are built, we have a good sense on how to strap down them without damage. Let me know if you need anything moved around the PA, NJ, NY, ME, NH, CT, VT area. We can also go to Canada.

The Shop – March 2010

Bill took a few pictures from around the shop today that show both the range and the beauty of some of the cars that we are working on. Sometimes I fear that there is too much “range” and not enough beauty! Bill takes outstanding photos that look super pro. Have I written a post on Bill yet? Bill, can you write a post on yourself, introduce yourself?

FIAT Hauler

This is a super cool truck, a former Ferrari team transporter that is now hauling some vintage cars.. The truck hauled a competition Daytona, a 750 Monza and a 275LM to Palm Beach International Raceway.

Tons of labor to detail

Here is what thousands of hours of detailing a Ferrari Lusso engine looks like. It is dusty and not totally finished but getting close. If I had a driveshaft I would take her for a spin! Really looking forward to driving the car because we did some enhancements to the engine and installed a overdrive transmission to make the car that much better and faster.

Reservoir lid for Ferrari

Clean brake fluid is a must for proper operation of a brake system, proper operation of brakes, reliable brakes? Ferraris 250′s with the Bendix/Bonaldi booster had a reservoir cap with a steel mesh under an aluminum disc to allow the bottle to vent. Under the mesh is a small hole directly into the brake fluid reservoir. As you can see, there is lots of opportunity for crud to get into the fluid from this rusty build up in the mesh. I took the aluminum disc off, made a new spacer ring and welded it onto the cap. I sent the part of to be cad plated and made a new aluminum disc, installed stainless steel wool under the and wrinkle finish painted it. Voila!
